Let’s be real, life is busy, and most of us don’t stop to think, "Am I moving well?" until something starts hurting. But here’s the thing: your body is always trying to tell you whether you’re moving like a well-oiled machine or a creaky, rusty tin man.
So, how do you know if you’re actually moving well...or just pretending to?
Don’t worry, We have got your back.
Here are 5 signs you’re moving like a pro…
and a few that might make you realise it’s time for a little tune-up.
1. You Can Bend and Stretch Without Sounding Like a
Bowl of Rice Krispies
Snap, crackle, pop...?
Great for breakfast cereal, not so much for your joints. If you can move freely without feeling like your body is auditioning for a sound effects role in an action movie, you’re probably doing okay. Tight hips, a stiff neck, or that “uh-oh” moment when you can’t reach the top shelf might mean your range of motion needs a little love.
2. Stairs Don’t Feel Like Everest
Look, if climbing a flight of stairs feels like you're scaling Mount Everest, we need to talk.
Basic activities like walking, carrying groceries, or dare I say picking up your kids should
not leave you gasping for air or with pickled knees.
If they do, something’s not moving efficiently, and it's time to get that checked.
3. You Can Stand on One Leg Without Toppling Over Like a Toddler
Here’s a fun test: can you stand on one leg for a minute?
No wobbling. Easy, right?
If not, it could be your body telling you that your balance and stability aren’t what they should be.
(And no, "I just have bad balance" isn’t a thing. There’s a fix for that ask us how!)
4. You’re Not Compensating Like a Master of Disguise
Ever notice how sometimes you lift something and your back is working harder than your legs?
Or your shoulders are screaming while your arms are chilling?
That’s called compensation, and while it’s great in spy movies, it’s not so great for your body.
If you’re shifting the work to the wrong muscles, that’s your body’s way of saying,
“I need help.”
5. You’re Not in a Constant Relationship with Pain
Okay, we’ve all had that one ex we just couldn’t quit, but if pain is your current fling, it’s time for a breakup.
Whether it’s that annoying neck ache, lower back twinge, or knee pain that pops up every time you squat, recurring discomfort is a big red flag.
Pain is your body’s way of waving a big, neon "HELP!" sign in your face.
Don’t ignore it!
